It's very difficult to paint hydrangeas in the realist style. You run the risk of either painting them too light and they appear flat. Or, you add too much shadow and detail and they look unnatural, dirty even. You succeeded in avoiding both of those extremes and instead painted them just right. Bravo!

This is so beautiful and so delicate- I love that you kept the majority of the color within the flower itself. My mom loves hydrangeas, and I was going to bid on it, but it's already a little too high for me- maybe next time :)

sooo delictae...I'll bet there were moments you were painting this and your heart rate actually slowed down...I can almost get in that zone looking at it. This is really beautiful.
