"Finds No.3 -- Oil Cans"

Oil on Hardboard 6"x6"
SOLD

Here is the third installment of my “Finds Series” -- composed of like objects that clutter my studio. I have always had a thing for oil cans and have collected them for a long time. There is something about the shape and functionality of them that I like. They come in all shapes and sizes but I find I like the little ones best. The patina on an old, well used can will show some wonderful colors. The can in the middle left is my most prized -- it is a sterling silver oil can made by Tiffany.

a Tiffany oil can? how strange! I love this piece. Marvelous range of color in what is essentially a "monochrome" composition. You get an amazing amount of detail in such a small space.
